Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff are filming A League Of Their Own: European Road Trip.

The mini series follows on from the success of the two previous A League Of Their Own: US Road Trip series.

Sky confirms: “The team captains from the hit Sky original production are on a pre-Brexit tour of Europe, taking on the continent’s best sport – and most ridiculous challenges – as they go.”

Unlike the American trips, Jack Whitehall will not be involved in the filming. He announced in February that he was leaving the show to focus on other projects. The football-focused series Jack Whitehall: Training Days, which is Executive Produced by James Corden, has just launched on YouTube.

Talking about the European trip, Sky says: “Freddie and Jamie will have new team mates join them on each leg of the trip including; comedy host Alan Carr, Spice Girl Geri Horner, cricket legend Kevin Pietersen, boxing champion Anthony Joshua (pictured), tennis champions Jamie Murray and Novak Djokovik. Also on the road trip, footballer John Barnes, actor Tom Davis, comedian Josh Widdicombe, darts champion Raymond Van Barneveld, footballer Ruud Gullit, Vicky Butlet Henderson, Mark Cavendish and Gernnaro Contaldo.

“The captains and their teams will visit some of the most famous sporting events in Europe and battle it out in a variety of competitions. Whether it’s scoring from the spot at the San Siro in Italy, stepping up to the oche at the PDC Unibet Premier League darts tournament in Rotterdam, chancing the tables in the famous casinos of Monaco or flower arranging in Holland, the stakes are high as Freddie and Jamie fight to be crowned king of the road.

“As usual, sporting greats will train the teams and lend advice along the way and the boys will have viewers in stitches as they compete against and ridicule each other in four hour-long episodes.”

The series is expected to be shown on Sky One in early 2019.

Last year Sky ordered multiple more series of the main studio-based show, so that format will continue too. James Corden, Redknapp and Flintoff will be joined by new regular Romesh Ranganathan later in the year to film Series 13.
