The Malloys will direct ‘Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance,’ which will feature all of the legendary hip-hop artist’s music.
An authorized Notorious B.I.G. documentary is officially underway.
Tentatively titled Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance, the project from Submarine Entertainment and ByStorm Films will be directed by The Malloys (Emmett Malloy and Brendan Malloy). It will be made in collaboration with his mother, Voletta Wallace, and the estate of Notorious B.I.G., and feature all of the music of the legendary hip-hop artist, who died in 1997.
David Koh, Dan Braun, Wayne Barrow and Keith Miller will produce the film, with Wallace, Stanley Buchthal, Josh Taekman, Mark Pitts and Josh Braun as executive producers. Submarine and ByStorm Films will serve as co-producers. Submarine — which has worked on recent music docs Searching for Sugarman, 20 Feet From Stardom and Nas: Time Is Illmatic, among others — will be representing worldwide rights at this year’s Berlin Film Market.
The doc will chart the rise and lasting impact of Biggie (born Christopher George Latore Wallace), who only recorded two albums before he died in a drive-by shooting at age 24.
“It brings so much joy to my heart that my son Christopher’s music has made such an impact on the music community and his stories have positively inspired so many young men and women over the years and still influencing the youth all over the world today,” said Voletta Wallace in a statement.
